Tekno Invited By The Police For Questioning After Public Display Semi Nude Women For A Music Video

Nigerian musician Tekno whose real name is Augustine Kelechi, apologized on Instagram for any offence he had caused. Reports claimed he was arrested after travelling through Lagos in a glass lorry with semi-naked women.

A video was filmed from another car in a traffic jam which showed a man sitting in a glass-sided lorry throwing money at women dancing around a pole in their underwear. Initially it was seen as an immoral act by the woman who was taking the video and members of the general public. People saw it as an advert for strip club.

Tekno shared on his page that he was behind the shoot. He denied accusations that it was an advert for any strip club. Instead he insisted that he was the one in the glass box on a truck travelling between locations while shooting a music video. He said they had been "having fun" shooting a music video and then, at midnight, had to travel between locations:

"We were shooting a music video and we had a shortage of vehicles to convey people to the next location, because some of the cars broke down in between the shoot," he said on Instagram.

The police told Nigerian news site The Daily Trust that the singer and two women had been arrested for public indecency on Tuesday.

Sydorff , Tekno's manager spoke to The Punch that:

“Tekno was never arrested by the police. They requested our presence and they told us to please come and clear the air about the whole issue. When we got to the station it was not as if anyone was arrested."

“The police just invited us and we went there to clear the air. They told us that they felt we were doing advertisement for the music video but we told them that it was just a music video.

“We just chilled there for a while. We drove there and we left. It was not like anything happened. We spent about one hour and thirty minutes with the police and we left. Everything has been settled now. Initially, there was no problem, it was just the way people escalated the situation. We did not do anything illegal."

“I would love his fans to know that the video that he was shooting, Agege, would soon be out and Tekno’s album, Old Romance, would be ready by September.”

Tekno features in Beyoncé's Lion King album and his songs include the hit Pana which has had over 100 million views on YouTube. He was also featured in Ciara's song "Freak me".
