Brunei Invokes Law To Punish Gays by Stoning To Death



 New Islamic criminal laws took effect Wednesday in Brunei. The Sharia law based on Islamic religion and legal system impemented punishment for gay sex and adultery by stoning offenders to death. The southern Asian country has introduced the strict laws and the gay community all over the world are condemning the decision.

Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah who is the Sultan of Brunei instituted the code in 2014 to bolster the influence of Islam in the oil-rich monarchy and in 2019, He enacts the full law according to a new penal code based on Sharia Law.

George Clooney, Ellen Degeneres, Elton John, Perez Hilton and many other celebrities have expressed their shock and calls for a boycott of the hotels owned by the Brunei investment groups like:

The country has no plan to halt the law despite pressure from international communities according to the office of the Brunei's prime minister.

The Australian government is being urged to revoke the 'Royal Brunei Airline' right to land in Australia to ensure the safety of Australians are protected.
