Saudi Arabia Beheads 37 Citizens on Grounds of Terrorism





Saudi Arabia on Tuesday beheaded 37 Saudi citizens, most of them minority Shiites, in a mass execution across the country. The reason for the execution was terrorism related issue. Amnesty International has confirmed the majority of the beheaded men as Shiites after "after sham trials" which accepted confession extracted through torture. This marked the highest execution by Saudi Arabia in a single day since 2016 when the kingdom executed 47 people on terrorism related crime.

The interior ministry has released a statement that those executed were found guilty according to the law and ordered executed by the Specialized Criminal Court in Riyadh, which specializes in terrorism trials, and the country's high court. They were found guilty of

Attacking security installations with explosives.
Killing a number of security officers.
Cooperating with enemy organizations against the interests of the country.
Participation in Anti Government demonstration
Disruption of Kingdom Security.

The execution was carried out after the midday prayers. Bodies were on display for 3hrs till the late afternoon prayers.
