A series of devastating bomb blasts ripped through high hotels and churches in Sri Lanka targeting Christian worshippers as they celebrated Easter services on Sunday, killing over 207 people

The blasts left over 450 people wounded. There were over 35 foreigners who were dead. The foreigners were British, Portugese, Chinese, Dutch and American citizens, with Britons and Japanese also injured.

The series of eight devastating bombs happened in six successions and two more, hours later. The blasts affected restaurants at the Shangri-La, Cinnamon Grand Hotel and Kingsbury; St. Anthony's Shrine, a historic Catholic Church and St. Sebastian's Church in Negombo, north of the capital.

There are reports that Sri Lanka police chief Pujuth Jayasundara issued intelligence alert 10 days ago, warning that suicide bombers planned to hit churches. Although nobody have claimed the attack, a foreign report claimed that the NTJ (National Thowheeth Jama'ath) was planning an attack targeting prominent churches.
