IS Admits They Are Responsible For Sri Lanka Bombing on Easter Day

The Islamic State group has admitted claims over the Sri Lanka Bombing that killed more than 359 people on Easter Day. The sect released a picture and video of eight people, all men, who carried out the attack on Sunday.
The Easter attack on Easter Sunday still remains the deadliest attack claimed by the group since they proclaimed their caliphate in mid 2014.

On the photo released by Amaq, seven men covered their faces, three of them held a knife while one who displayed his bearded face , had a rifle. In the video, the eight fighters pledged allegiance to IS supremo Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi in Arabic, a black IS flag hanging in the background.

IS propaganda agency Amaq released a statement saying:  "Those that carried out the attack that targeted members of the US-led coalition and Christians in Sri Lanka the day before yesterday are Islamic State group fighters,"

The group tagged the attack "blessed attack" which was targeted at Christians during their "blasphemous holiday".

Meanwhile, The Sri Lankan government on has blamed the little-known National Thowheeth Jama'ath (NTJ) Islamist group for the blasts, saying they were carried out in retaliation for last month's attacks on two mosques in New Zealand.
