Ukraine Comedian Becomes President

Comedian Volodymyr Zelensky has become the elected president of Ukraine. He played a character President in a popular TV show "Servant of the People".


He has a law degree but his career is in entertainment. Zelensky is of Jewish descent but has said that religion is a personal matter and it played no part in his campaign.


During Campaign, Petro mocked him for lacking political awareness and status to stand up to Russian President, Vladimir Putin. Supporters saw the 41 year old political novice as a breath of fresh air.


Meanwhile, critics say he is a puppet of powerful rivals to Ukraine's outgoing leader Petro Poroshenko.
