Queen Meets Baby Sussex! Name Revealed

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex revealed the name of their first child, a baby boy born on Monday May 6, 2019. Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor is the latest member of the British Royal Family, and seventh in line to the throne. The new born is pictured meeting his great grand parents, The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh at Windsor castle with Megan's Mum Doria Ragland.
His name was revealed on their official Instagram account as Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.

"Archie is a boy's name of German origin meaning 'truly brave'." according to nameberry.com. It can also mean Rachel, Megan's real name(Megan is the duchess middle name) when rearranged.

Harrison is of English origin which means son of Harry.

Baby Sussex will not be called Prince unless his Grandfather, Prince Charles becomes a King, that is if they want it for their son. This is because King George V introduced a stipulation during his reign that said only children of the King or Queen, children of the King or Queen’s sons and only the eldest living son of the eldest living son of the Prince of Wales were eligible for the titles.

King George V said at the time: "The grandchildren of the sons of any such Sovereign in the direct male line (save only the eldest living son of the eldest son of the Prince of Wales) shall have and enjoy in all occasions the style and title enjoyed by the children of Dukes of these Our Realms."

Mountbatten-Windsor is the surname. According to royal.uk, before 1917, members of the British Royal Family had no surname but this changed when King George V specifically adopted 'Windsor' as their official surname.
The surname Windsor remained the same until 1960, the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh decided they wanted their direct descendants to be distinguished from the rest of the royal family, therefore they added Prince Philip's surname of Mountbatten to the family name.

Royal.uk said: "The effect of the declaration was that all The Queen's children, on occasions when they needed a surname, would have the surname Mountbatten-Windsor."
